Hoof Care Service
Promoting equine wellness based on the Wild Horse Model is the focus of my business. For details about 1-day public education symposiums, The Biology of Natural Horsemanship, please see the symposium page of this website.

Good hoof care requires an appropriate diet, footing, movement, training, and socialization. I recommend the following reference materials:

Constantly challenged by the variable climate of the Appalachian Foothills of Kentucky where I live, I am encouraged by works of Jaime Jackson, who continues to share his wisdom and insight into better horse-keeping practices based on his study of wild horses. I highly recommend his books Paddock Paradise and Founder: Prevention and Cure the Natural Way. These resources offer valuable suggestions for horse-keeping practices that support equine health in this ever-changing environment.

The domesticated horse's environment includes the human-equine relationship. Tactful training, both from the ground and under saddle, is critical to safety and psychological wellbeing. To this end, I recommend the book Ten Golden Rules of Horse Training, by Bruce Nock.

Horses that are ridden and used in a manner that encourages well-balanced biomechanics become more fit, athletic, and graceful. I recommend Liberated Horsemanship

Hoof Boots

Properly fitted hoof boots make the transition to barefoot riding go smoothly.

The boots provide protection for hooves that need time to heal, or any time you use your horse on roughed terrain.
